Ingredients

1/2 cup flour

1 1/2 cups sugar, divided

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

5 eggs, separated

1/2 cup cold water

1 Tablespoon lemon juice or vanilla extract

3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions

Step 1

In a bowl mix flour, 1 cup sugar, and baking powder. In a separate bowl beat egg yolks, gradually add 1/2 cup sugar. Combine water with lemon juice or vanilla. Add the flour mixture in parts alternately with the water to the egg yolks.

Step 2

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Continue beating until stiff. Fold egg white mixture gently into batter. DO NOT BEAT!

Step 3

Do Not grease tube pan! Spoon batter into pan, bake at 325 degrees for almost an hour. Cool
