Makes: 1 Coffee Cake

Active Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

From: From Aunt Betty

Ingredients

1 cup sugar

1/4 lb. butter (1 stick)

2 eggs

1 3/4 cup flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup pecans or almonds chopped

2 tsp. or more, cinnamon

almond paste, optional

Directions

Step 1

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Add dry mixture (flour, baking powder, baking soda) to creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly. Add sour cream and blend.

Step 2

Topping: combine nuts, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 3

Put half the batter into a buttered tube pan. Sprinkle half the topping on the top. Optionally add a thin layer of almond paste. Spoon remaining batter gently on, and put remaining topping on.

Step 4

Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes.
