1 1/3 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground nutmeg, divided
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs at room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla extract
You can use just the sugar to make a simple syrup.
