Makes: 1 dozen

Active Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

From: Manadnock Shopper, Sept 16-22, 2009

Ingredients

2 cups flour, divided

1 package / 1/4 oz. yeast

1/4 cup + 2 tbsp. sugar, divided

1/4 tsp. salt

3/4 cup warm water

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 egg

1 cup baking apples, peeled and chopped

1/2 tsp. cinnamon,

1/4 cup chopped nuts

3 tbsp. butter, melted

Directions

Step 1

In mixing bowl, combine 1 cup flour, yeast, 2 tbsp. sugar and salt. Mix well. Add warm water, oil and egg. With electric mixer, beat for 3 minutes on medium speed. Gradually stir in remaining flower to make soft dough. Stir in apples. Spoon into 12 well-greased muffin cups. Let rise in warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes. Do not cover. Bake at 375 degrees for 74 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 2

For topping, combine 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon and nuts. Dip tops of warm puffs in melted butter, and sprinkle with topping mixture. Serve warm.
