1 15 ounce can reduced-sodium black beans, rinsed and drained&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1 egg, lightly beaten&lt;br /&gt;

1/4 cup Italian-flavored dry breadcrumbs&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese&lt;br /&gt;

In a large bowl, mash the beans with a potato masher or fork until they are mostly smooth. Add the breadcrumbs, cheese, and spices. Stir to thoroughly to combine, and taste test.  Then add the egg. Shape into 4 even patties, about 1/2-inch thick. &lt;br /&gt;
