=Ingredients=&lt;br /&gt;
1/2 cup dried lentils&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3/4 arborio rice&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
4 cups water&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1 tsp. salt&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2 tbsp. butter&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1/2 yellow onion, chopped&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
black pepper&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1 tbsp. olive oil&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1/2 cup parmesan cheese &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1/4 finely chopped fresh parsley for garnish&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
=Directions=&lt;br /&gt;
== Step 1 ==&lt;br /&gt;
Thoroughly rinse the lentils and rice removing stones and dirt.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
== Step 2 ==&lt;br /&gt;
Place in slow cooker with water and salt.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
== Step 3 ==&lt;br /&gt;
In a saute pan insert butter and saute onions for 10 minutes until golden brown.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
== Step 4 ==&lt;br /&gt;
Add onions to lentils and rice and cover and cook on high for about 2 hours, or until both lentils and rice are tender.  Add additional salt and pepper to taste.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Top each serving with a drizzle of olive oin and a generous sprinkling of parmesan cheese and parsley.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
